THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF TODAY: BY ABDULLAHI KABIR FASKARI

The Young people of today have so much passion, trust and believe in the greatness of their country and should not be allowed to be faced with the similar challenges encountered over the years, hence the need for revolution in the youth sector is inevitable.
As youths, let's us mark this Day with remembrance to pray for our country, our leaders and our future.
Let's continue to build unity and peace among all tribes and religion with our words and actions even at this trying time for our dear country.
Let's us remain focused and drive our vision logically with great sense of responsibility, and also follow up our Government to ensure that they are accountable and responsible to deliver the dividends of democracy and to achieve the common vision of our country. It is visible that Nigeria youth needs to be re-energizing on patriotic compass in dealing with critical decisions; maybe we should say the spirit of patriotism is lost among the youths and needed to be re-awakened.
I believe we can move past some of the old debates that so often define the sector, and move forward in a way that benefits our generation with new thinking -- an energetic, impatient, dynamic and diverse generation that we represent, More than 70 million people in Nigeria are between the ages of 15 - 24 and under 35. We are the originators, initiator and the powerhouse of business and social enterprises; the key drivers of the economic wheels of a state, the incubators and springboards of new ideas, arrowheads of innovation; the creating nucleus of energy-base of society, the bones and brains of society, and the catalysts for state development.
And what gives me so much hope about our generation is that we are much more interested in the hard work of waging peace than resorting to the quick impulses of conflict.  We are more interested in the hard work of building prosperity through entrepreneurship, not cronyism or corruption. We are more eager for progress that comes not by holding down any segment of society, but by holding up the rights of every human being, regardless of what we look like, or how we pray, or who we love.
We care less about our country as it has been, but more about the country as it should be and can be.  And unlike any other time in our history, the technology at our disposal means that we don’t have to wait for the change that we are looking for; we have the freedom to create it in our own in powerful and disruptive ways.  Many of us already have, whether by starting your own enterprises or by helping others start theirs.
So, I want us to have every chance, every tool we need to make our great country a better place. And the impulse to make this our dear country better, to push back on those who try to make it worse, that’s something our generation has to hold on to. And we have to remember, it’s never easy; there are no days off. But if there’s one thing that I know from my own life is, with hard work and with hope, change is always within your reach.
Finally, “I am calling on the Young people of today to accept responsibility for their life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.”  Have a vision for the year 2016, so u can run with it... Those who have a vision don't sit down, they run, they have reasons to wake up every morning. I wish you all a happy new and may the year 2016 bring peace and prosperity to our country, and all the good things to our lives!!!
Happy New Year!!!
