Face your legislative duties; you can’t determine how Buhari fights corruption – APC replies PDP Senators

Image
The All Progressives Congress has asked senators of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to face their legislative business and come to terms with the reality that they cannot determine how the Buhari administration fights corruption. The APC, via a statement signed by its National Secretary, Mala Buni on Wednesday, said this in response to the PDP Senators’ declaration of suspension of support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s government. The PDP senate caucus, earlier on Wednesday, said its position followed “belligerent attitude” of the APC government towards the opposition members, alleging bias in Mr. Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign. But APC said PDP lawmakers should rather face their lawmaking business in the interest of the nation. “The attention of the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a statement credited to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senate Caucus stating that the Caucus has withdrawn its support for the gove

Presidency Responds To Gov. Fayose’s Claim On Aisha Buhari

Image
The Presidency has dismissed as laughable the desperate attempt by Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State to link President Buhari’s wife, Aisha, to US Congressman William Jefferson’s bribery scandal for which the American lawmaker was convicted in 2009. Reacting to Mr. Fayose’s allegations in a press statement, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said ordinarily the presidency would have ignored Fayose because he was a man “childishly obsessed with the desire to grab the headlines and insulting people at will because of his incurably boorish instincts.” Mr. Garba explained however that the presidency chose to respond on this occasion for the sake of innocent Nigerians who might be misled by Mr. Fayose’s shameless and blatant distortion of facts. He said ignoring Mr. Fayose carried the risk of giving traction and credibility to outright and brazen falsehoods inconsistent with the status of anybody that calls himself a Governor

How Buhari spends his time outside official hours – Femi Adesina

Shortly before the one year anniversary of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, spoke to PREMIUM TIMES’ Festus Owete and Sani Tukur, on the achievements of the administration, how the president spends his time outside official hours, his family life, and capacity to govern Nigeria. PT: One year after how has the journey been? Adesina: So far so good, I will say. Because, if you recall how our country was this time last year and compare it with how it is today you will see that there is a big difference, particularly in the area of security, in the area of the anti-corruption war, you can say that this government has done very well. The third one is the economy. That one is still tricky and it is work in progress. Then you take it one by one because they are three key promises APC made while campaigning. The president believes that you cannot administer a country you have not secured. And tha

“The three changes Nigeria needs” – President Buhari Writes (A Must Read)

Image
President Buhari wrote an article titled “The Three changes Nigeria needs” which was published on America Wall Street Journal, WSJ. In the article, President Buhari stated that Restoring hope, Re-balancing our economy and Regenerate growth are the three changes Nigeria needs. Nigeria is at a crossroads. Just over a year ago, people voted in a historic democratic election to end corruption and business as usual, opting instead to build an economy that delivers for all Nigerians. The old order was based on an unsustainable commodities super-cycle. While the boom had many positives and contributed to Nigeria becoming Africa’s largest economy, it fostered an epidemic of corruption and inefficiency. Foreign businesses and financial institutions also benefited as some people spent and sometimes hid huge sums abroad, lifted by the rising tide of oil exports and dollar revenues. Now we are living in a new world of low energy prices. The economy has slowed while unemployment and in

I will not pretend to be an experienced farmer #Abubakar Barde

Image
Comr. Abubakar Barde said,he will not pretend to be an experienced farmer but one of the good qualities a good leader should possess is that connection with the common man that cannot be severed.  I went to the farm and ploughed and felt it, so that if a youth goes into farming and seeks the support of the NYCN in advocating for more mechanised and easier way of farming, I will remember the sweat and the hardship of that day and readily identify with his predicaments.  I am no leader, if I am not willing to walk a few miles in the shoes of my compatriots. We the youths hold the key to the nation's campaign on economic diversification, and we shall open those gates even if it is one plough, ridge or seed at a time. God bless the hard working, indivisible youths of Nigeria.
